Grief: A History of Death and Dying

Emily Christensen, PhD, LPC has been a doctoral level professional counselor for twenty years, and a chaplain for five years.  In this 30 minute webinar, Dr. Christensen reviews the history of death, and how that has changed over the last few centuries and in recent decades.  Dr. Christensen follows the trail of society distancing us from death, first intellectually and then emotionally.  Finally, Dr. Christensen explains how the related shifts and adaptions in rituals, grief expression, and bereavement practices explain modern society's cultural obsession with death.

Emily Christensen, PhD, LPC has been a doctoral level professional counselor for twenty years, and a chaplain for five years.  In this 30 minute webinar, Dr. Christensen reviews the theories of grief, including the discussing the different factors that affect the grief experience.  Dr. Christensen then explores the models of grievers, examining what that looks like for different kinds of grief and in a variety of situations.
